A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a private network that uses the Internet to connect remote sites or users together. A VPN uses "virtual" connections routed through the Internet from HQporner's private network to the site you are connecting from. This allows you to make a secure connection to HQporner and lets your machine behave as though it was on the university network, even though you may be on the other side of the world.
